I was invited to guest choreograph for Mare Nostrum Elements’ 3rd cycle at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center in Queens, NY after participating in their 2nd to make Bad At Sex.
I started with a website because I didn’t know what it would feel like to start a dance as a website. At the time I was interested in the somatic (1st person) experience of content rust, the perpetual deterioration of meaning we steep in as the feeds scroll by. The work was briefly reviewed:
The work felt shallow but strange, which I think was precisely the point as it left the movement rife with meaning. It doesn’t matter if you like this, it seemed to say. You’ll eat it right up anyway.
